44-Year-Old Dies in Crash That Ended With Vehicle in the South Fork of the Clearwater River | Idaho

KOOSKIA – On Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at approximately 1:01am, Idaho County Dispatch received a call advising that there was a single vehicle accident on Hwy 13 at approximate mile post 23.5. The caller advised dispatch that the vehicle was upside down and in the South Fork of the Clearwater River.

Deputy Camron Killmar was dispatched and arrived on scene at 1:06am where he entered the water and pulled the driver and single occupant out of the vehicle and onto dry land. Deputy Killmar provided life-saving efforts by providing CPR until the Kooskia Ambulance arrived on scene at 1:29am. The driver, now identified as 44-year-old Michelle Lynn Darwin, of Kooskia, ID, was transported to Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville.

Idaho County Dispatch was notified that Michelle Darwin was pronounced deceased at 3:30am. Family and next of kin have been notified.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office would like to express their deepest condolences to Michelle’s family at this time. KOOSKIA – The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash along State Highway 13, near Kooskia, that ended with a vehicle in the South Fork of the Clearwater River in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Few details have been released about the crash, which happened at milepost 23.5, nearly 3 miles south of Kooskia. The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office says the driver has died and further details are being held until the family has been notified.
