More than 100 automotive jobs coming to Greenville County, officials say

The Greenville Area Development Corporation announced Wednesday a big “get” on its 20th anniversary.The GADC revealed in a release and a virtual news conference that Gissing North America LLC, will establish operations in Greenville County, making an $18.7 million capital investment and creating 116 new jobs.Gissing is a leading manufacturer of acoustic systems for the automotive industry based in Bingham Farms, Michigan, with headquarters in Wuxi, China, the release said.With 14 facilities around the world, the company will establish operations in the new Fox Hill Business Park in Fountain Inn, officials said.“We chose Greenville County, in general, and Fountain Inn, in specific, as our new home to expand our North American operations due to its infrastructure, economic environment, and quality of life it offers our future associates,” Gissing North America CEO Claudio Calado said in the release.The event was conducted online for the second straight year as South Carolina continues to fully emerge from COVID-19. The meeting was attended by hundreds of business and political leaders and featured congratulatory comments by Gov. Henry McMaster, Lt. Governor Pamela Evette, U.S. Senators Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham, U.S. Reps. William Timmons and Jeff Duncan and South Carolina Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt.Gissing North America, which also has a facility in Sumter among six current U.S. locations, is a supplier of acoustic solutions comprising drivetrain and thermal systems, overhead systems, exterior systems, cargo management systems, carpet and interior acoustic systems to automotive manufacturers. GCAD was founded in 2001 with a goal of promoting and enhancing the quality of life in Greenville County by facilitating job growth and investment, officials said.Its efforts have resulted in the creation of over 31,000 new jobs and more than $5.9 billion in capital investment in Greenville County, according to the GCAD website.
