Trek buys Pennsylvania’s Genesis Bicycles

EASTON, Pa. (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycle has acquired Genesis Bicycles, a single-store operator in the Lehigh Valley.

Tomias Hinchcliff opened the store in 1974 “with two bikes in a tiny storefront in downtown Easton,” he said on the store website. He was 18 when the store opened.

“Today I am 65 and looking back with deep gratitude for the privilege we have had to serve our amazing community,” he wrote.

Hinchcliff referred questions about the sale to a person at Trek who was unavailable.

On the store website, Hinchcliff wrote, “Every great ride comes to a fork in the road. After years of consideration, my wife Stephani and I have decided that the time has come to take a new and exciting path. We’re excited for our next chapter, especially because we know Trek will continue to serve you in even bigger and better ways while sticking to the same core principles of treating people like family and delivering outstanding customer service.”

The site said a retirement sale would begin Thursady and the store will be closed May 4-7 as trek prepares to re-open under the new ownership.

The store’s website currently lists new bikes from Trek, Electra, Salsa, All-city and Jamis.
