The West Herr Automotive Group has acquired Vanderstyne Toyota on West Ridge Road in Greece, the Erie County-based company announced via a news release last week. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed
The location, at 4374 W. Ridge Road, just east of Manitou Road, reopened Monday morning as West Herr Toyota of Rochester. The Toyota dealership was open for 29 years prior to the change, according to West Herr.
With the new site, the auto group will have five dealerships in Monroe County — Mercedes-Benz of Rochester and BMW of Rochester, both in Henrietta, and West Herr Ford and West Herr Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, which are both across the road from the new dealership in Greece.
West Herr first expanded into Monroe County in 2010, according to the company’s website. West Herr Lebrun Toyota of Canandaigua in Ontario County joined the automotive group last year, making it the easternmost dealership within the company.
The 38,000-square-foot dealership on West Ridge Road becomes the company’s fourth Toyota dealership. Jay Jay Vanderstyne will continue as general manager at the dealership.
“We are especially excited about the acquisition of Vanderstyne Toyota because of the manner in which this store was operated,” said Scott Bieler, president and chief executive officer of the West Herr Automotive Group. “The Vanderstyne Family is known throughout the Rochester area as people of integrity, with true compassion for their customers, employees and community. Our mission will be to carry on the tradition they established. Additionally we believe in the quality, design and innovation of the future Toyota products.”
“The West Herr Family is very respected and shares so many of our philosophies and culture; that we are confident that our customers, employees and community will all greatly benefit from this acquisition,” Jay Vanderstyne, who sold the dealership to West Herr, said in a news release. “We are very excited about the future, and look forward to serving our very loyal customers and growing our business to include many more.”
West Herr was founded in 1950 as a Ford dealership in Hamburg, Erie County. This acquisition brings the company to 29 West Herr locations, all are within western New York, making it the largest automotive group in the Empire state. The automotive group employs more than 2,200 people — and will gain another 45 through the acquisition.
