HOWARD TWP., MI – A Berrien Springs man suffered injuries Sunday afternoon after losing control of his car and striking a tree in Cass County, police said.
Deputies responded to a single-car crash report around 1:57 p.m., March 21 on the 2600 block of Terminal Street in Howard Township, said Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke in a news release.
Police determined that 21-year-old Noah Heiermann was headed east on Terminal Street when he lost control of the vehicle, exited the roadway and collided with the tree.
Firefighters extricated Heiermann from the car, and paramedics transported him to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries, police said.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash, police said, adding that it is believed Heiermann had on his seatbelt at the time of the incident. The crash is under further investigation.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the scene from the Pokagon Tribal Police, Howard Township Fire Department and Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Services.
